AstroLuxe Jet Black
A compact jet black square with the shallowest lens in the Heritage range.
The AstroLuxe is a true square, its width and geometry balanced so the shape reads as deliberate rather than rounded off. At 50-20-145 on a 137 mm front it is a narrow medium, and the 37 mm lens height is the shallowest here. That makes it the lightest-looking frame in the line on the face, and the one to pick if deep lenses have ever felt like they were resting on your cheeks. Hand-cut from solid Italian cellulose acetate and finished across more than sixty separate polishing steps.
Two tints, two jobs
Amber while you are still up. Red once you are not.
Amber lensFrom sunset0.10% measured transmission at 450 nm, the melanopsin peak, and 0.48% at 500 nm. By 550 nm 40.5% is through, so the green band is only partly removed. Luminous transmittance 50.5%, Filter Category 1, rated indoors and out.
Red lensWind-downZero measured transmission across 380 to 560 nm. Only long wavelengths pass, 49.7% at 600 nm and 92.9% at 700 nm. At 14.9% luminous transmittance it is Filter Category 3 and indoor use only.
All figures are single-lens spectrophotometer measurements from our own laboratory reports for this lens, tested to EN ISO 12312-1, ANSI Z80.3 and AS/NZS 1067.1. Individual response varies.
Fit
Will the AstroLuxe fit you?
The three numbers inside your arm settle this quickly. A lens width of 48 to 52 mm is right, but the 137 mm front is the limiting figure, because this is a narrow medium and it will feel tight if you normally wear anything at 145 mm or above. The 37 mm lens height is shallow by design, so the square shape stays clear of the cheekbones. The 20 mm bridge keeps a small front from gripping.
