Eclate Crystal White
Translucent white acetate, where the block finish shows most clearly.
Clear and near-clear acetates are the hardest to finish, because every internal flaw stays visible once the block is cut. Eclate Crystal White is made the Heritage way, hand-cut from solid Italian cellulose acetate and polished across more than sixty separate steps, and a translucent front is where that process shows. The shape underneath is a modest rectangle: 49 mm eye, 20 mm bridge, 145 mm temples, a 139 mm front and 40 mm of lens height. Against a white rim, the amber and red tints both read unusually vividly.

Amber lensEvening wear, indoors and outMeasured transmission at 450 nm, the melanopsin peak, is 0.10%. From 0.48% at 500 nm the curve climbs to 40.5% at 550 nm, so part of the green band is preserved. Luminous transmittance is 50.5%, Filter Category 1, rated for indoor and outdoor use.
Red lensNight, indoors onlyZero transmission across 380 to 560 nm makes this the darker of the two. Long wavelengths carry the image: 5.8% at 570 nm, 49.7% at 600 nm. Filter Category 3, 14.9% luminous transmittance, indoor use only.

Will the Eclate fit you?
At 139 mm across the front, Eclate Crystal White is a medium fit that suits average temple width. The 20 mm bridge is generous against a 49 mm eye, so the lenses sit apart and the nose fit stays loose. Lens height of 40 mm covers the direct line of sight and a downward glance without reaching the cheekbone on most faces. Temples are 145 mm. A pale translucent rim shows marks, so keep the cloth handy.
