Warm umber acetate on the one outline we cut with more bridge than lens character.

The unusual thing about Grandeur is the ratio. A 48 mm lens is on the small side, yet the front still measures 142 mm across, because 23 mm of that span is bridge. The practical result is a frame whose weight rests on the nose over a wide, shallow contact area instead of a narrow one, which is what keeps a pair from creeping down over a long stretch at a keyboard. Temples run 148 mm, three millimeters past the common length. The acetate is Italian, cut by hand from a solid block and brought to finish across more than sixty steps, and umber gives it a warm brown depth that changes noticeably under a desk lamp.

Will the Grandeur fit you?

Judge this one by bridge width before anything else. At 23 mm the nose opening is far wider than a typical 18 to 20 mm, so it suits a broader or flatter bridge and will feel loose on a narrow one. The 48 mm lens keeps the overall look modest despite the 142 mm front. Temples of 148 mm reach a little further back than standard. The 40 mm lens height is ordinary, clearing the cheek on most faces.
