Black removes the nostalgia and leaves the architecture: a squared brow line, corners that hold their angle, and a front that runs 147 mm wide. Eye size is 54 mm, the bridge 18 mm and the temples 150 mm, so every dimension is scaled past a standard frame. Lens height comes in at 40 mm, which on this width produces a genuinely large tinted area. For evening wear that is useful, because overhead lighting reaches the eye from above and a taller lens intercepts more of it before it arrives.

Amber lensEvening, indoors and outdoorsFilter Category 1 and 50.5% luminous transmittance put this tint in the indoor and outdoor bracket. At the melanopsin peak of 450 nm it measures 0.10%, and it recovers to 96.3% by 600 nm.
Red lensLate night, indoors onlyBlue and green are removed entirely across 380 to 560 nm. Transmission resumes at 570 nm with 5.8%, hits 49.7% at 600 nm and 92.9% at 700 nm. Luminous transmittance is 14.9%.

Fit
Will the Magnus fit you?
This is an extra-wide frame and it behaves like one. The 147 mm front suits broad temples, and the 18 mm bridge keeps the nose pads area open rather than tight. At 40 mm, the lens is tall enough to cover a downward glance at a phone without riding on the cheekbone. Temple length is 150 mm, so the arms run long before the bend. If your last pair measured under 140 mm across, this will feel oversized.
