Magnus Smoke Crystal
Smoke-toned and unapologetically large, the way seventies frames were.
The vintage square outline gives Magnus a flat upper line and squared corners, which is why it holds its shape on a broad face instead of disappearing. Measurements are 54-18-150 on a 147 mm front, putting it in the extra-wide band, with a 40 mm lens height that splits the difference between a shallow modern frame and a full drop. Smoke tones the rim down a step from solid black, so the frame has weight without becoming the loudest thing you are wearing in the evening.
Two tints, two jobs

Amber lensFrom dinner onwardTransmission sits at 0.10% at 450 nm, the melanopsin peak, and at 0.48% at 500 nm. By 600 nm the lens is passing 96.3%, which is why faces and screens still look like themselves. Luminous transmittance 50.5%, Filter Category 1.
Red lensThe last hour, indoors onlyZero transmission across 380 to 560 nm makes this the darker of the two. Long wavelengths carry the image: 5.8% at 570 nm, 49.7% at 600 nm. Filter Category 3, 14.9% luminous transmittance, indoor use only.

Will the Magnus fit you?
Magnus needs an extra-wide face: 147 mm across the front is well beyond a standard frame. The 54 mm eye pairs with an 18 mm bridge, so the nose opening is wide and the frame will not grip. At 40 mm the lens height is moderate, deep enough to cover the direct line of sight without touching the cheek. Temples of 150 mm mean the arms reach further back before turning down behind the ear.
